As featured in AdNews, supporters from across Australia’s advertising and media industry have come together for batyr’s Splash the Stigma swimming challenge, raising more than $33,000 to support youth mental health education.
A team of 33 swimmers from across the industry, including representatives from oOh!media, UM, NOVA Entertainment, Special Group and UnLtd, collectively swam more than 430 kilometres throughout the challenge.
Together, the group raised vital funds to help batyr deliver preventative mental health education programs that empower young people to speak openly about their mental health and seek support when they need it.
Participants also brought creativity and community spirit to their fundraising efforts. One standout initiative came from Grace Bertossi from oOh!media, who auctioned off a tattoo, allowing the winning bidder to choose the design in exchange for a donation.
The industry-wide effort highlights the powerful role workplaces and communities can play in supporting youth mental health, while encouraging important conversations both in and out of the water.

Every dollar raised through Splash the Stigma helps batyr continue delivering programs that reach thousands of young people across schools, universities and communities across Australia.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone in the advertising and media community who took part, fundraised and supported this year’s challenge. Your commitment helps ensure more young people across Australia have access to the tools, knowledge and support they need to look after their mental health.
