Philanthropy & major gifts

Why are major gifts important?

Our work relies on the generous support of philanthropy and major gifts from individuals, families, charitable trusts, PAF’s and foundations.

Your investment in our work is critical to us. It helps us scale existing programs and plan for the future with confidence. By working closely with our partners and taking a long-term approach together, we can reduce the strain on the mental health system and ultimately prevent youth suicide.

Working together to change young people’s lives

We work closely with you to ensure your experience supporting youth mental health is fulfilling and impactful by:

  • Understanding your motivation for giving
All of our supporters have their own reasons for wanting to support youth mental health. It’s important that we understand what drives you to support the cause as well as sharing our greatest areas of need with you. This ensures your gift is going towards the area that will have the most significant impact whilst being aligned with your values.
  • Providing opportunities for you to connect to the cause
Seeing the impact your gift is creating is a rewarding experience. Where possible we take our philanthropic partners along to batyr@school programs so that you can see first hand how you’re making a difference.
  • Measuring our impact regularly and sharing our learnings with you
We build a meaningful relationship with you and provide regular updates through in-person meetings, impact reports, and acquittal reports so you can see the impact your gift is having.

With an established evidence base, we routinely measure and monitor the outcomes and impact of our programs in order to understand our impact and how we can best contribute to the combined efforts of the education system, mental health sector and suicide prevention sectors.

batyr’s monitoring and evaluation framework was designed by the Centre for Social Impact and links to outcomes in our Theory of Change. Theory of Change.

Your investment in our work is critical to us meeting the ever changing mental health needs of young Australians.

batyr and Third Link: 10 years of support

“Third Link has been critical for batyr’s success. You saw the need for a new way of tackling mental health issues with young people and how we could do things differently. Crucially, you also understood the challenges of a start-up not-for-profit. Sebastian Robertson, our founder and a young entrepreneur, needed this early-stage investment to realise the organisation’s potential.” Nic Brown, batyr’s CEO
