Become a batyr Ambassador

Join batyr as a Mental Health Ambassador at your University to help champion for wellbeing within your university community!

You'll help plan and attend events at the university, and connect with students to provide them with tools to take care of their mental health and wellbeing. This opportunity allows you to join a network of like-minded individuals who are passionate about reducing mental health stigma, access training and personal and professional development opportunities to support your career growth, and make a lasting impact on your university community.

We are currently recruiting for 2026 ambassadors at The University of Sydney (USYD), The University of Technology (UTS), and Swinburne University of Technology.

If you attend one of the above universities and are keen to make a difference on campus in 2026, apply now!

Volunteering FAQ's

Nope! You can volunteer as much or as little as you like - just jump in when you hear about an opportunity that fits your schedule.

No, our school programs are run by trained speakers and facilitators, so getting facetime with young people isn’t part of the volunteering experience! Our volunteers help out at community and fundraising events, and behind-the-scenes tasks.

Most of our volunteering happens at community events! You might be supporting staff at our stall, chatting with members of the public, cheering on fundraisers, or spreading the word about mental health. Every opportunity is a little different, but always fun and meaningful.

Throughout the year, we’ll have different ways of getting involved, including helping out at our infamous Blue Tie Ball, cheering on runners at the Sydney marathon, or joining the team in the office to support with some admin tasks. Keep an eye on your inbox to find out about these events as they approach!

Easy! Join our volunteer mailing list to stay in the loop about upcoming events and ways to get involved. You’ll be contacted directly by email when an opportunity arises.

Most commonly our volunteering opportunities are in NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD. We hope to have opportunities in other states in the future, so join the mailing list to be the first to hear when we do!

Not at all! Just bring your passion and a positive attitude, and we’ll give you all the info you need.

Remote volunteering is possible for some of our administration tasks. Most of our event volunteering is in-person, but remote volunteering will be considered on a case by case basis.

Yep! We’ve made it super easy—you’ll watch a short video that covers everything you need to know, and you’ll be send a short brief ahead of your shift with more event specific information. You can always contact us at [email protected] if you have further questions!

Yes! Larger events like the Blue Tie Ball are perfect for group volunteering, and we may have community event opportunities if you’d like to volunteer with a friend too - just ask!

Absolutely! We love working with corporate groups who want to get involved and make a difference. Reach out to [email protected] if your organisation is keen to volunteer with us!
