Introducing OurHerd@Uni: a new digital front door to wellbeing on campus

February 04, 2026

As university semesters kick off across Australia, thousands of students are stepping into a whirlwind of enrolments, timetables, deadlines, portals, policies - and expectations.
In all that noise, knowing where to find wellbeing support (and how to actually use it) can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re excited to share the next evolution of batyr’s work on campus: OurHerd@Uni - a dedicated digital wellbeing hub designed to support students anytime, anywhere.

OurHerd@Uni brings together lived-experience stories from students, a tailored directory of university support services, and a self-guided eLearning module focused on practical wellbeing strategies. Free, self-led and available at any time, it’s designed to help students navigate the highs, lows and everyday pressures of university life.

Starting uni can feel like information overload - study and assessments can quickly take priority, and wellbeing support can be easier to put off. The hubs act as a simple, student-friendly front door to mental health support, making it easier to understand what help is available, what it’s for, and how to access it.

Each hub is customised to the university it serves. Students can explore real stories from peers at their own institution, learn about counselling, accessibility and academic adjustment services, and discover ways to connect through clubs, networks and campus communities. Every hub also includes a self-paced eLearning module that supports students to reflect on their mental health and build a personalised wellbeing plan.

Alexander de Barras Santos, batyr’s Head of Digital Product, said the hubs are designed to extend batyr’s impact beyond workshops and classrooms.

“We know that mental health support doesn’t stop when a batyr program ends. OurHerd@Uni gives students a clear place to return to - bringing lived experience stories and university support services into one easy-to-navigate space. For many students, particularly international students who may be unfamiliar with how support systems work, it makes finding help simpler, less overwhelming, and easier to act on when it’s needed most.”

The launch of OurHerd@Uni reflects our ongoing commitment to combining lived experience, digital innovation and prevention-focused education to better support young people. As universities continue to navigate increasing demand for mental health support, the hubs provides an additional layer of connection, guidance and care.

OurHerd@Uni is now live for students at UTS, The University of Sydney, Swinburne University and NIDA, with further universities to follow.

A huge thank you to nib Foundation for making this project possible.
