Matt is Co-Founder and CEO of Ethical Partners Funds Management, an independent boutique Australian fund manager. Ethical Partners has a dual focus on performance and investing ethically. He is also a Manager of the Ethical Partners Tatrai Giving Fund. Prior to his current role, Matt was at Macquarie Group for 16 years where he worked in Sydney and Hong Kong. Matt was previously the Co-Head of Asian Equities for Macquarie Group in Asia from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that he held various roles with Macquarie including Head of Sales and Head of Research for Australia / New Zealand based in Sydney. He was also a Member of the international Macquarie Group Foundation Committee from 2014 to 2017. Over the last 10 years Matt has worked extensively with not for profit organisations, first joining the Board of KidsXpress and then becoming Non-Executive Chairman of batyr. Matt has since stepped down from Chairman and has taken up a Non-Executive Director role on the Board. Matt is passionate about helping underprivileged and disadvantaged children as well as young people impacted by mental health issues. He was a judge for the Macquarie Foundation Kickstarter Awards from 2011 to 2013 and was Highly Commended in the Macquarie ‘Staff in the Community Fundraising Awards’ for the ‘Kilos 4 Kids’ initiative. Matt was the principal organiser of Kilos 4 Kids initiative from 2011 to 2014 helping raise a total of A$1.1m for kids/young people-related charities including batyr. In 2016 he and his friends and colleagues raised A$250,000 to build a school in rural Cambodia (in the village of Tatrai… hence the name of Ethical Partners’ Giving Fund), where Matt has visited several times. He currently lives in Sydney with his wife Karen and has two children – Saskia and Sebastian (not named after you Seb Robertson…well… possibly). He enjoys watching rugby, cricket and reading (and beating Sam and Seb at table tennis whenever possible…).
