A note from batyr Chair, Ellen Derrick
After almost nine years of dedicated service, our CEO, Nic Brown, has made the decision to pursue a career opportunity outside of batyr. For the Board and me, this news is bittersweet. I am happy for Nic and the opportunities that await him after nine years of impressive leadership. impact and growth of batyr, but I am also disappointed to not be able to work with him ongoing.
The transition to a new CEO sets the stage for a new leader to guide batyr into an exciting chapter, aligning with our ambitious 2030 strategy and beyond.

“Nic, our hero from Old Bar and a true leader! When he took on the CEO role, no challenge was too great and no ask too much. Nic has impacted all facets of batyr but none more so than the strength and leadership of the team; his drive for strong partnerships across the sector; and, his unwavering commitment to young people and their communities. It is a legacy we would all be proud of.
Nic, we wish you every success on your next endeavour, and as with all our former 'batyr alumni', may we continue to build upon your legacy to continue to nurture resilient and healthy generations of the future.”
Sebastian Robertson
batyr Founder

“batyr is a very special place to me for so many reasons. There is an amazing team of passionate, smart, purpose driven people doing incredibly important work that’s having a real impact on young people’s lives and future. Work that I am so incredibly proud of and grateful to have been a part of. To everyone that has been a part of my journey - thank you.
Thank you to all of you for your hard work and for backing me in this role as we work on what we all know is one of the most important issues facing young people today. I’m excited for this new phase for batyr and to be supporting from the sidelines.”
Nic will be finishing up in the role at the end of this year. On behalf of the Board, staff and batyr community we extend our sincere gratitude for his leadership and dedication to batyr.
As we bid farewell to Nic, we have been diligently working alongside our Board and Founder Sebastian to identify the ideal candidate to succeed him. We’re confident this individual will have the skills, passion and commitment to build on our strong foundations and lead batyr into the future.
We look forward to sharing with you the exciting news of batyr’s new CEO in the new year. Meanwhile, we remain committed to our mission, continuing to play a critical role in educating young people, working towards our 2030 goals, and delivering vital preventative mental health programs..
