In Australia, 1 in 4 young people experience mental-ill health, and rates of psychological distress have increased in the last decade. Tragically, suicide is the leading cause of death for young people. As someone who has struggled personally with mental illness I know what it is like to feel alone and like no one is there for you that is why this charity is so important to me because it will help teens not feel so alone when they are struggling and hopefully show the rate of suicide in teens. By supporting batyr, we’re helping empower young people with the confidence and skills to get through tough times and look out for their mates. Through sharing lived experience stories and peer-to-peer education, we are keeping young people from reaching the point of crisis and changing lives.
