25 January 2021, Australia – Let’s be honest, 2020 was a bit of a [email protected]#!t show, but as we all still grapple with the idea of living a COVID-normal existence, there’s still time to hold on to those summer vibes – and you can do it for a good cause.
Youth mental health charity batyr is once again partnering with Budgy Smuggler™ to bring you the second annual ‘Splash the Stigma’ in an effort to turn the tide on mental-ill health for young Aussies. Running over 19-21 February, batyr are calling on Australians, young and old, city and regional, to take part anywhere, whether it’s at your local public pool, favourite swimming hole, lake, river or beach you just need to take a swim and make a splash.
Get your crew together (mixed teams of any number) or do the funky butterfly solo, and take the plunge in one of five challenges, starting at 200m all the way up to 5km. However you choose to take part, have fun and keep yourself and others safe and follow local social-distancing requirements.
Funds raised from the event will support the delivery of batyr’s educational mental health programs for young people across Australia, empowering them to take charge of their mental health and to start a life-changing conversation with others. The last ‘Splash the Stigma’ event raised $16,800 which allowed 672 students to experience a [email protected] program.
We’re challenging individual swimmers to raise $250 each. Raise $250 by midnight Wednesday 27 January and you can even score yourself a pair of smashing batyr Budgy Smugglers™.
Date: Friday 19 February – Sunday 21 February
