Stigma is an isolating barrier that prevents young people from reaching out for support if they need it (SANE, 2013). Australian Institute of Health and Welfare data shows only about 22% of young people experiencing a mental health issue seek help (2011). This tells us that over the years, a large proportion of the Australian population has been suffering in silence.
Being Herd Pathways: Empowering young people to take charge of their future
This month we are SO EXCITED to kick off a new program…Being Herd Pathways! The program has been in the works since March 2018 when we started on our pitch to be part of the NSW Department of Industry’s Youth Employment Innovation Challenge.

Our impact to date
I am so glad I came to this workshop. It is one thing to know you aren’t alone in how you feel but hearing real stories from real people makes that message really sink in.
This year we had 60 students from ANU running from Canberra to Sydney over 2 days in the annual Civic2Surf!

From those chasing a sub-hour finish to those just soaking in the atmosphere: The Armidale School will be making its presence felt at this year’s City2Surf fun run with 202 students entering, almost half of all eligible to do so.
